How to Blur an Image Online

Creatorr's blur tool lets you quickly apply Gaussian or pixelate effects to hide sensitive information, blur faces, license plates, or simply create artistic background effects — all in your browser, no server upload.

Step-by-Step

  1. Upload — Drag and drop an image or click to browse.
  2. Choose mode — Full Image blurs everything. Selective lets you draw rectangles over specific areas.
  3. Pick blur type — Gaussian for smooth blur, Pixelate for mosaic/censor effect.
  4. Adjust intensity — Slide from subtle (1) to very strong (50).
  5. Apply & download — Click Apply, then Download your blurred image.

Gaussian vs Pixelate

  • Gaussian blur — Averages neighboring pixels for a smooth, photographic blur. Good for backgrounds, depth-of-field effects, and soft censoring.
  • Pixelate — Reduces resolution in the selected area to large blocks. The classic censoring look often seen in news broadcasts. Unable to be reversed by sharpening algorithms.

Common Use Cases

  • Blur faces for privacy compliance (GDPR, social media).
  • Hide license plates, addresses, phone numbers in screenshots.
  • Create blurred backgrounds for thumbnails and presentations.
  • Pixelate sensitive data in documents or spreadsheets.

Privacy & Security

Your images are processed entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded. The tool works offline after load. Need more image editing? Try our Photo Editor for adjustments, filters, and drawing tools.
